Today I walked back down to the waterfront and seafood market. What an adventure! I’m sure I committed a number of faux paus, but I had a good time! I went into a second-floor seafood restaurant, and the waitress stopped me. She put on slippers and took me downstairs so a lady could get my live crab out of a tank. It was huge and for a moment I felt bad about it, but if I didn't have him for a meal someone else would.
We went back upstairs and I had to take off my shoes. I started to use a pair of slippers but she signaled no, just socks. Then she brought me lots and lots of plates. All very tasty. Finally, my crab arrived. I think I was supposed to wear gloves, but didn’t see any, so I didn’t. About halfway through a man came over with scissors and cut the body parts in half so I could get more meat. (Caroline said later they do this for children.) I ate as much as I could. They were very kind and I’m really glad I went, especially since Caroline doesn’t eat seafood!
