We traveled from Newark through Copenhagen to Florence and arrived at our destination just before dark. Our apartment is located about 15 minutes from city center by tram. It’s a lovely third floor unit with a full kitchen, and front and back balconies. We got a good night’s sleep and this morning, Courtney and I took the tram to city center. We explored the Mercato Centrale (central market), had cappuccino, and ate panini on fresh bread. Then we went to Basilica Santa Maria Novella, which was once a convent and full of frescoes in varying states of restoration, mostly depicting saints.
